The game
Slavia Prague tried to take the initiative to attack since
the early minutes and they twice had the opportunity to lunge into the
Barcelona penalty box. Unfortunately, both attacks failed to produce dangerous
opportunities.
In the fifth minute, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen had to save his
goal when dismissing a wild ball from Petr Sevcik's crossing which hit Gerard
Pique's leg.
In the 11th minute, Barcelona got their first golden
opportunity through a counterattack. Pique passes the ball to Nelson Semedo,
who runs from the right side and goes into the penalty box. Slavia goalkeeper,
Ondrej Kolar, can still brush off Semedo kicks.
Barcelona continued to storm the Slavia defense for goals
but opportunities for opportunities Barcelona failed to maximize into goals.
Barcelona also have to deal with Slavia's quick counterattack several times
troublesome.
Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann were less able to help
Lionel Messi in attack. One chance came for Messi in the 35th minute, but his
shot hit the crossbar and could be secured by Kolar.
Two minutes before halftime, Arturo Vidal gave Messi a
breakthrough but his shot was dammed by Kolar. A minute later, Kolar blocked
another chance, this time from Pique's header that continued Dembele's corner.
Slavia had scored a goal in injury time when Lukas Masopust Slavia
headed a crossing ball. Ter Stegen pushed over the ball but the rebound was
leaked into the goal. Unfortunately, Masopust has been caught offside.
A 0-0 score sends both teams into the dressing room.
Entering in the second half, Barcelona still dominated the
game, Sergi Roberto was included to replace Jordi Alba. Roberto got a chance in
the 53rd minute after getting a Dembele pass, but his shot was pushed over by
Slavia, Kola from close range.
Barcelona began to be frustrated to find ways to break down Slavia
who played nicely in defense, Dembele who did not play effectively replaced
Ansu Fati in the 65th minute.
Ansu Fati provides a breath of fresh air for Barcelona's
attack line. He pushed in the 78th minute into the Slavia defense and latched
on to Messi, but the team captain's shot was pushed over by Kolar.
Barcelona really could not dismantle Slavia defense in the
remaining 10 minutes of the match. Slavia plays neatly in defense and makes it
difficult for the host to create a golden chance in the penalty box.
Until the game ends, the score is goalless draw.
